Air pollution; fourth threatening factor for human health

The International Energy Agency in an analysis about air quality that has been published on Monday, the seventh of July, in a report entitled "World Energy Outlook" is discussed the relationship between power, air pollution, and health. Energy Agency says the investment increasing in technology and current energy policies, air pollution - reduce by half the fourth the risk for human health - by 2040. Every year around six million and 500 thousand deaths in the world occur in relation to air pollution and this figure will increase dramatically in the coming decades unless effective steps are done to reduce pollutants. Air pollution problem is felt around the world, especially in poor communities. No country is safe from the risk of air pollution. About 80 percent of the world's urban population breathes air that in the terms of quality is lower than the standards established by the World Health Organization. This agency has predicted that early deaths due to outdoor air pollution, from three million people in a year at now reaches to four and a half million people in 2040 and most of these deaths will occur in developing countries in Asia. While, the early deaths due to indoor air pollution in the same period will be reduced to three million people from the current three and a half million, although much of these deaths are been attributed to poverty and lack of access to modern sources of energy mortality. This report has been specified the ways which the energy sector can help to reduce the air pollution through them. According to the International Energy Agency, the air pollution is the fourth largest threat to human health after high blood pressure, poor diet, and smoking. According to this report, energy production and consumption is the reason of 85 percent of air pollution, while nearly all of the produced sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are from fossil energy. Meanwhile, this agency says millions tons of pollutants enter into the atmosphere from cars, power plants etc., while still two billion and 700 million people are related to fuels such as wood, charcoal and other biomass for personal matters, such as cooking. This report has pointed to the global commitments about air pollution rate reduction until 2040 and says the reduction of pollutants amount are not enough and only by seven percent investments increase in the energy sector, we can significantly changed this situation. This report says the number of users from wood, coal, biomass and other fuels can be reduced to one billion and 800 thousand people by 2040. About fuel consumption outside the home, a policy can be considered that deaths fall to a million and 700 thousand people a year.

A lamp that is on for 110 years!

It is difficult to believe that a wedge bulb could be alive for 110 years. But really there is a light bulb in the world that is on from 1901 to now, it's mean before the Wright brothers' flight. Imagine that in these 110 years, how much the world has changed but this bulb is still alive. The Start working of this die hard lamp was in 1901, at that time, in "Livermore" of California this promise was given that a modern technology achievement will be installed soon, this achievement were bulbs that carbon filaments have been used on them. An inventor Adolph A. Kaylet had invented this lamp and the Shelby electronics produced it in bulk. This Lamp had its own design and beauty at that time, carbon filament in the special form had a curve and its curvature was different with conventional lamps on that time. Despite the production of these bulbs with company's high quality was discontinued after a while and this company went bankrupt. Some say because of the few lighting of these lamps, but you should know at that time, the light of these lamps was brighter than Edison's. We say this lamp was turned on 110 years and probably you have this question that is it possible that power doesn't be off in 110 years? We must say that in these 110 years, totally just 7 days lights turned off for repairs of power lines and random power outages, and the rest of the day, this lamp was lit continuously. A lamp that we are speaking about this, illuminates in the Livermore fire station number six. However, in 1976, they changed the place of lamp and moved it from a fire station to another station. At that time, they were concerned lest removing bulb out causes to it breaks down, but it did not happen.

Japanese scientist, Yoshinori Asumi, won the medicine Nobel in 2016

Swedish Nobel Academy announced the Nobel laureate 2016 in Physiology or Medicine. Yoshinori Asumi won this $ 930 thousand Award to discover the "autotrophy mechanisms". According to the definition of Karolinska Institute, autophagy is "basis the destruction and recycling of the cell". The Nobel Committee knows important the discovery of Professor Asumi that it has helped to the "recognition of many cellular processes such as mutation and infections that could be cause some diseases such as Parkinson's, diabetes, cancer and diseases of the nervous system". Autophagy is known since the 1960s, which means that cell packages its components in a membrane, and then this collection combines with cell recycling center (lysosome) to lysosome enzymes destroy these substances. This 71-year-old Japanese professor has identified a group of genes that had controlled the autophagy in yeast and after he showed a similar mechanism that exists in human cells. Professor Asumi discovery that was done in the early 90s, he changed the "research paradigm" to the Nobel Committee described and thanks to him, the "physiological processes for the destruction and recycling of cell components" were found. According to Alfred Nobel, the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm is responsible for choosing the Nobel Prize in medicine. This is the 107Amyn Nobel Prize and its first award was 1901 that was gifted to Emil von Behring for discover the diphtheria vaccine. Last year's winners were three scientists to find new treatment for malaria and tropical diseases. Nobel Prize for Physics will be announced tomorrow, after tomorrow Laureates of chemistry, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday. Winners of the Nobel Prize for literature and economics will be announced next week.
